At Artistic Solutions we believe in teaching our students not only the "how" of upholstery, but the "why" as well. Whether you are a craft dabbler or a serious minded designer, our class will give you a firm foundation to build your creativity upon in keeping with time-honored craftsmanship.
Beginners Class Overview:
Intro to upholstery -a brief history
Tool usage and safety
Proper tear down
Furniture names and parts of furniture
Foundations -"Springs n Things"
Textiles -"What is what" used in upholstery
Foam and its ratings and application- Padding and building up
Cutting the fabric- "Layout and marking for assembly"
Color theory and Pattern matching
Industrial Sewing machine usage -"How to sew for upholstery"
Proper Stretching and fitting cover
Finishing the piece
*Our Beginners class is a prerequisite for all additional classes we offer.
Beginner Upholstery Classes​ - $295.00
( $265.00 plus a one time materials fee of $30.00). Tools are additional.
Total of 15 hours - meets 3 hours per session, one day a week, for 5 weeks.
Students learn a variety of information from safety procedures, the history of furniture, textiles, springs and foundations, foam ratings, upholstery sewing and proper upholstery techniques.
Students will complete a small scale project such as a dining chair or footstool to begin building their skills and confidence.
Each Class size is limited to 3 students for the morning or afternoon class.

Intermediate Upholstery Class - $530.00
($490.00 plus a one time materials fee of $40.00).
20 hours - meets four hours per session one day per week, for 5 weeks.
Students build on their skill set learned in the beginners class by reupholstering a basic upholstered chair. Students learn spring tying, frame padding and build up, fabric layout, cutting and sewing cushions, sewing single and double welt, and making buttons.

Advanced Upholstery- $980.00
($940.00 plus a one time materials fee of $40.00).
32 hours - 4 hours per session one day per week, for 8 weeks.
Student will learn the art of tufting, creating a channel back chair, tufted headboard, attached back, waterfall pillow back, etc. Or choose to learn the craft of boat or automobile seat upholstery. Prerequisite: Completion of 1 beginner class and 3 intermediate classes.
